Dedication of the New Tara Cabin

The Dedication Ceremony for the new Tara Cabin. Held at Taraloka on the 1st February 2017. Looking back to the previous cabin and the dedication made by Sangharakshita. Rejoicing in Mokshapushpa, as her legacy kickstarted the fundraising for the new building. Rejoicing in the generosity of the women who gave money, time, energy to work on the project. Rejoicing in Craig who designed, dreamt up and built the cabin with his band of fabulous tradespeople.

I live in Samayakula community, along with eleven other women, in two adjoining houses, near the London Buddhist Centre. We have not long come back together after the mid-winter/new year break. Some of us have been on the LBC winter retreats and returned with many stories to tell. Others have been to visit family, or stayed at home in the community. We certainly set off like a rocket the first week. Scaffolding was up on day 1, so we were able to have the health and safety inspection, and start removing the corrugated iron roof, on day 2. Unfortunately, removing the roof materials, showed us what a poor state, the wooden structure underneath, was in.

Crisis !? Yes, but, a crisis made easier by the relaxed nature of our lovely contractors 2SS, who reassured us that most of the damaged timber we saw,...
