Meditation is not only a way of cultivating internal integration and contentment, it can be taken up as a form of activism that directly counters rampant consumerism.

It’s easy to feel disheartened and perhaps even powerless in relation to societal difficulties and the effects of climate change. If we’re conscientious, we tend to make changes in our lives that support a more effective social dialogue, and reduce our environmental footprint. These...

Reflections on the Karuna Telephone Campaign

From Karuna Fundraisers on Wed, 31 Jul, 2019 - 14:59

It was hard to explain to my friends what I was doing for six weeks. I flippantly described my volunteer work at Karuna as a mixture of meditation, group therapy and telesales. Whilst this depiction clearly undersold my experience, on the surface the job did primarily involve calling up Karuna supporters and asking them to increase their donations – an activity undertaken by numerous charities.

There it is …. Buddhism in a nutshell …....

From Buddhist Action on Wed, 17 Jul, 2019 - 18:16

I’m giving a talk and hosting a discussion on this topic at the Dharma Parlour at the Buddhafield Festival this Friday at 2pm. For those of you who can’t make it, I’ve written this blog.
