Our latest free eBook and how to support us through lockdown

By Windhorse Publi... on Tue, 10 Nov, 2020 - 16:15

With new lockdown measures coming into effect in the UK, we’ve been thinking about how we might support you through the lockdown, and also how you might support us.

How we’re supporting you

This week we’re offering another free eBook. We’ve chosen Teachers of Enlightenment by Kulananda.

The defining act of being a Buddhist is ‘going for refuge’ to the three jewels of the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. If we’re to do that effectively, we need to relate to the three jewels – the highest ideals of...

A series of talks from the 2019 Triratna International Council, with the whole event set in the context of the Council considering deeply and studying the Dharma together.

This year’s theme was major elements from the Dharma biography of Sangharakshita, Triratna’s founder, which are of wider relevance to anyone endeavouring to lead a Buddhist life. The four areas explored are:

Chatrul (ou Chetrul) Sangye Dorje
18 juin 1913 - 31 décembre 2014

Le dernier des 8 maîtres de Sangharakshita encore en vie, Chatrul Sangye Dorje, est décédé dans son monastère népalais, semble-t-il paisiblement.

C’était une personnalité excentrique et imprévisible, qui a vécu une vie errante dans les montagnes de l’Himalaya. Il est...

Chetul (Chatral) Sangye Dorje, the great Tibetan Master who just passed away at the age of 102, was one of Urgyen Sangharakshita’s eight main teachers. Here is Sangharakshita in 1990, paying tribute to him.

Remembering Chetul (Chatral) Sangye Dorje, 1913-2015

By Candradasa on Tue, 5 Jan, 2016 - 22:31

Here’s a forthright and passionate talk by Vajratara, taking as its starting point the great contemporary Tibetan teacher Chatral (Chetul) Sangye Dorje, who died at the turn of the year. Vajratara considers his relationship to practice in Triratna, via his giving of the Green Tara practice to Sangharakshita. The main focus, however, is the need to practice the Dharma for others as part of a meaningful community, and she argues her case with a balance of down-to-earth humour and...

Death Of Chatral Sangye Dorje

By Candradasa on Tue, 5 Jan, 2016 - 21:39

Chatral Sangye Dorje (also variously spelled Chetrul or Chetrul), the last surviving of Sangharakshita’s teachers, was born in 1913 and died on 31st December.

This is an excellent, at times very funny, introduction to him by Karunamati, who was fortunate enough to meet with him in Nepal as part of her medical work there with the Green Tara Trust

At the time this talk was given the great Tibetan Master - one of Sangharakshita’s eight main teachers - was 93 years old and...

Two Posts At The Dharma Primary School, Brighton, UK

By Centre Team on Tue, 26 May, 2015 - 17:58

Our friends at the Dharma School in Brighton, UK, have two new vacancies. They write:

“The Dharma Primary School was the first school in the UK to be founded on Buddhist principles, with the practice of mindfulness at its heart. As they celebrate their 20th anniversary and welcome their new Head Teacher in September, they are seeking an experienced KS2 teacher (full- or part-time) and a part-time 1:1 SEN teaching assistant to help them move forward into an exciting new phase of...
