With sad and heavy heart we celebrate the death of our beloverd and cherished teacher and friend Bante Sangharákshita he who gave us the Dharma and inspired us over many many years.

May his next life be as spiritually inspiring as the last. R.I.P.

Last night we had a special night for Bhante. 40 of us were present for the night, which started with Jnanadhara rejoicing in Bhante and the influence Bhante has had on his life and Triratna. We then chanted 108 Shakyamuni mantras for Bhante, and had a special puja for Bhante.

Much appreciation was expressed for Bhante and all that he has done for us. A book of condolences has also been opened here...

… It’s been such a long journey. Hard to express even to myself a fraction of what I’m thinking or feeling. It’s too early to take in, even though we’ve been preparing for years. Confidence and fathomless, mysterious gratitude–and a big warm smile will have to do for today. – And a big mental bear-hug to Vajradipa, who took this picture and who died today.

Urgyen Sangharakshita passed away this morning around 10am due to Pneumonia at Hereford Hospital, Hereford, UK at the age of 93. He was the founder and the guide of Triratna Buddhist community. He was one of the most influential Buddhist of our age. Due to his efforts Triratna community has reached to thousands of people through Buddhist centres in over 40 countries. Please join with us...

Tonight the Seattle Sangha gathered to honor the passing of our beloved teacher with meditation, a threefold puja and chanting of the Padmasambhava and Amitabha mantras. As part of the metta bhavana we brought to mind all the beings whose lives had been affected by Bhante’s life and teaching. We send our love to all.
