This is a newly combined role to increase attendance at WLBC classes, courses, and retreats, while also securing financial sustainability through fundraising, and potentially room hire. You will develop and implement strategies that attract newcomers and encourage regulars to deepen their engagement with our path of training. Alongside event promotion, you will cultivate relationships with donors, optimise fundraising campaigns and encourage a culture of giving within the sangha.

Be part of the rebirth of West London Buddhist Centre

By Amalavajra on Sat, 1 Feb, 2025 - 12:51

After an extremely challenging 2024 including death, serious illness and flood, the WLBC is rebuilding, literally and metaphorically.

We work as teams of friends animated by the Bodhisattva spirit to offer a transformative, graduated path of Triratna training.

We need three inspired and skilled people who live in or near London to take on two day / 14 hours p.w. roles in marketing, fundraising and finance.

Marketing Manager: create effective communications that increase attendance by newcomers and Friends at WLBC classes, courses and retreats, as...

Dharmabyte: Walking the Talk

By Zac on Mon, 31 Oct, 2022 - 06:00

The Buddha famously said that fellowship is the whole of the spiritual life. Is that really true?! Abhayanandi has been following this teaching notably by living in a residential Buddhist community and working in a team-based right-livlihood business. Hear her inspirational and hard-won reflections from the talk entitled Living Sangha given at London Buddhist Centre, 2016.

Dharmabyte: Entering the Dharma Parlour

By Zac on Thu, 13 Oct, 2022 - 06:00

Sangharakshita goes to Buddhafield! A first for him, and a first for the fabulous Buddhafield Festival that takes place each year at the height of the English summer. This talk was given in a tent in Devon - and the sounds of this great Dharma celebration are everywhere around as Sangharakshita marks his entry to the ‘Dharma Parlour’ with a rolling set of thoughts and reminiscences and encouragements to practice.

SPRING - SUMMER TERM

By Sthiramitra on Wed, 20 Apr, 2022 - 11:54

This is to let you know that next term we’re trying a new pattern for Frome Triratna Regulars’ night.

We’ll be holding Wednesday Sangha evenings on alternate weeks at Orchardleigh studio – for meditation and other activities, such as reflection, ritual,  discussion, walking meditation, or exploring any topic that inspires the facilitator.

The fortnightly pattern starts on Wednesday 20 April after Easter, and runs every other Wednesday through to the end of July.

Our team is also offering men’s and women’s...

Beyond limits - Karuna appeals 2022 (applications open)

By Sanghamani on Thu, 13 Jan, 2022 - 16:12

Do you want to live this year with deeper meaning and purpose?

To develop more kindness, with others.. for others..

and move beyond ways that limit you?

For over fourty years people in our community have choosen to deepen their practice by joining a Karuna fundraising appeal team. Many have said that doing an appeal was one of the most significant and transformative times of their dharma lives.

Fundraising as a spiritual practice means remembering to open to what’s alive in each moment, meeting fear with...

One World, One Sangha - What’s Triratna done for me?

One World, One Sangha - What’s Triratna done for me?

By Liz_Bassett on Sun, 31 Oct, 2021 - 11:30

I first went to the Glasgow Buddhist Centre in 2008. My life was ok, but I was looking for more meaning - something I could put all my energies into. I was going in circles. Sinhacandra, the Order member teaching meditation, reached out to me with kindness. And that made all the difference.

I still kept changing relationships and homes, struggling to get a foothold. The Buddhists seemed to know how to work with change though. And Mitra study helped me connect...

India in Crisis- How can we help?

By Sanghanath on Wed, 19 May, 2021 - 17:01

I do Karuna appeal not because they are easy, in fact, they are never easy. But in my deepest sense, I know they make difference to myself and my brothers and sisters in India. In my opinion, one of the best practical application is available in our community to help others.

I like what Sangharakshita said, “Karuna appeal is a spiritual practice because you are doing something for others”
