Individuality: Self-Contained and Boundless (Online Order/Mitra event from Adhisthana)
Led by Ratnaguna and Saddhanandi
17-21 February

It is a question that is central to the development of a saṅgha, a spiritual community, no individuals, no saṅgha. Any consideration of what the saṅgha is must therefore include as full an understanding as...

Sangharakshita's diary

By Sadayasihi on Wed, 2 May, 2018 - 15:09

Sthanashraddha is Bhante’s secretary. He writes from AdhisthanaUK:

“Spring only really fully arrived towards the end of April, and it was less than a month ago that the gardens were covered in our last batch of snowfall. But, yes, eventually after what felt like weeks of watching tulip flowers develop buds and slowly watching them rise up on their stems, and slowly see buds swelling, we had a few days of warm weather and sunshine, and...

Sangharakshita: The Poetry Interviews

By Munisha on Tue, 13 Jun, 2017 - 10:29

Kalyanaprabha is one of Sangharakshita’s two literary editors. (The other is Vidyadevi.) She writes to tell us about a new set of interviews with him, about his poetry.

“Recently there appeared on Sangharakshita’s website a link to some rather unusual interviews on The Buddhist Centre Online: over 10 separate sessions, Saddhanandi* interviews Sangharakshita about 10 of his poems.

Each interview opens with a sensitive reading of the poem by Saddhanandi and then...

Saddhanandi became Chair of Adhisthana earlier this year after 14 years as Chair of Taraloka, Triratna’s retreat centre for women.

In her first Adhisthana Newsletter, earlier this month, she wrote: “This is the first time I’m writing to you after taking on the position of Chair at Adhisthana from Vajragupta. He is now touring various centres doing what he loves - teaching the Dharma.

I’m at my desk listening to the sounds of a very rowdy game of volleyball...

New Chair for Taraloka

By Munisha on Tue, 25 Nov, 2014 - 18:52On 30th September, after 14 years as Chair of Taraloka Retreat Centre for Women in Shropshire, UK, Saddhanandi handed over to Samantabhadri. Ratnasuri Departs from Taraloka after 28 years

By saddhanandi on Wed, 16 Apr, 2014 - 14:29Saddhanandi: Here I am, back at Taraloka after a two-week absence: visiting family, attending a two-day meeting on mindfulness at Adhisthana, and attending a meditation retreat at Rivendell. All these events were enjoyable and productive, but throughout I was very conscious of the fact that whilst I was away Ratnasuri was leaving Taraloka and beginning a new life in Wrexham – living alone for almost the first time in her 91 years.

Ratnasuri first moved to Taraloka in 1985...
