On Buddha Day, May 22, 2016, we welcomed four more mitras into the Triratna Mitra Sangha here in Mexico witnessed by around 100 people.

These wonderful people are:

Edith Palacios

Oscar Villegas

Paul Klein

Rodrigo Morales

Paul´s mother, Sabine, is already a mitra within our community and Rodrigo is just 15. We don´t know but he may be the youngest mitra in the world…

How many mitras do you know? If you are reading this in India, the answer is probably, A lot!

There are around 10,000 mitras in India (where they are known as dhammamitras), including a staggering 850 women who have asked for ordination. With numbers like this, the Indian Mitra Convenors have their work cut out. This year, so far, they have organised three large mitra conventions.

Prajnamala and the shrine team created an amazing shrine with soil, plants and flowers surrounding an image of the Earth Goddess and the Buddha. The day led by Prajnamala, Dhammavijaya and Hridayamati explored our relationship with Mara and how to work with lossening the grip.
