Dear Families,

I’m creating a video about the life of the Buddha.

Support Aryajit’s new animated work: ‘A Brief History of Buddhism in Six Minutes’

One of the most enjoyable parts of creating the video is drawing Mara (the “Lord of Death”) and his army, who try to stop the Buddha gaining Enlightenment by attacking him. I have been drawing beings from indian mythology, like Raksanas and Yaksas, but also skeleton armies, dinosaurs, dragons (as you can see from the attached sketches)...

This is the big festival of the year, celebrating the Buddha’s awakening under the Bodhi Tree on the full moon day of May. Ratnaprabha will be in the centre shrine-room to host the festival sessions.

10:30 -12 midday, Slideshow by Ratnaprabha on the Buddha’s visitors under the Bodhi tree, Mythic Beings at the Buddha’s Awakening, also on YouTube Live, followed by questions and meditation.

Turning Arrows into Flowers: The International Practice Week 2018

The International Practice week will take place from the 22nd to 29th September. It will be a world-wide practice week, including all Centres and Triratna Practice Groups wherever they are, on the theme of ‘Turning Arrows into Flowers’, inspired by Subhuti’s teaching on the 2017 Order retreat at Bodhgaya.

The image that sums up and symbolises the theme of this urban retreat is that of the Buddha on the cusp of his Enlightenment, at the point when Mara attacks him with all he’s got …… but the Buddha...

Prajnamala and the shrine team created an amazing shrine with soil, plants and flowers surrounding an image of the Earth Goddess and the Buddha. The day led by Prajnamala, Dhammavijaya and Hridayamati explored our relationship with Mara and how to work with lossening the grip.
