In 1978 I left my wife, got ordained, and moved into the Aryatara community in Purley (not in that order).

In 1988 I was in India as an Anagarika [in robes], where I had been since 1981. I spent most...

By Sadayasihi on Mon, 20 Apr, 2020 - 14:00

A story from Kalimpong…

Sangharakshita shares a story from Kalimpong about being woken up in the middle of the night to a very strange occurrence – he saw a dear friend who had passed several years earlier standing in a deep pit next to his bed. His response was to chant the Vajrasattva Mantra.

Excerpted from the talk Between Twin Sala Trees, part of the series Incidents from the Pali Canon, 1983. This lecture is a series of reflections based...

By Sadayasihi on Sat, 26 Oct, 2019 - 23:41

The Avalokiteshvara mantra featured during the Saturday night puja at the Big One 2019. By Centre Team on Mon, 2 Sep, 2019 - 12:41

The final evening of the 2019 Triratna International Gathering culminated in a rousing Padmasambhava puja led by Singhamati. Invoking Padmasambhava, himself a master magician, was a fitting end to the “Alchemy of the Dharma”.

By Sadayasihi on Thu, 14 Jun, 2018 - 14:54

This FBA Dharmabyte is entitled ‘What happens when we stop and listen?’ from the talk ‘The Sound of Reality’ by Padmavajra.

This richly rewarding talk explores the place and function of sound in Buddhist practice and history, as well as within Padmavajra’s own spiritual life.

A wide-ranging cultural journey is made from John Coltrane to Sufi Qawwali, from mantra to Zen poetry, taking in Andre Gide, Renaissance Neoplatonism and the ancient Pali Verses en route. Not to...
