A wonderful first talk of the 2019 International Gathering, whose theme is ‘Alchemy of the Dharma’. The utterly delightful Ratnaguna takes us through the true miracle of transforming ourselves via the magic of a practice in which we also learn to let ourselves change.

This is a beautiful, reflective, funny take on the challenges of the Dharma life. Ratnaguna’s breadth of reference is itself a joy: taking in Greek philosophy, Hans Christian Andersen, and writings on the nearness of death to life...

Sanghamani with a great second talk from the 2019 Triratna International Gathering. Her theme on this Alchemy of the Dharma weekend is how we can transform ourselves in order to transform our communities. And she leads with fearlessness in discussing her own work and practice in this regard.

As a fundraiser at the cutting edge of the practice of connection – trying to forge a sense of mutually vital relationship with strangers (who are not necessarily pleased to find you at their...

In the third and final talk from the 2019 Triratna International Gathering, Prasadacarin explores the theme of ‘transforming world’. Taking ‘everything is burning with the three fires of greed, hatred and delusion’ as his starting point, he poses the question: what are the alternatives to these fires?

The three jewels of the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha are a framework that could transform the world and Prasadacarin draws out what each jewel or refuge can offer.

Maitreyi Interviews Subhuti on 'Women, Men And Angels'

By Maitreyi on Tue, 28 Mar, 2017 - 16:08

Following on from his statement of personal regret about the publication of ‘Women, Men And Angels’ and the views expressed in it, here is Subhuti in conversation with Maitreyi, going into detail around that regret, and sharing his thoughts on a very painful episode in Triratna history, including the story of how it all happened. What emerges in the course of the interview is an exemplary look by two good, old friends at how confusion can arise - and how clear...

'Opening Up The Thatch' - Parami In Conversation with Tejananda

By parami on Thu, 9 Mar, 2017 - 18:14

Some time ago, Tejananda wrote a piece entitled ‘Opening up the Thatch’. In this, he thoughtfully suggests that we need “an open and compassionate discussion” on the issues raised by allegations around historical controversy in Triratna, re-made in a recent short regional TV programme in the UK.

Amongst other points, Tejananda wondered if it would be helpful to engage in some form of ‘truth and reconciliation’ process. Recently, he visited Adhisthana and met with...

Introducing the Adhisthana Kula

By ratnadharini on Tue, 28 Feb, 2017 - 23:02

The Triratna Buddhist Order now numbers over 2,000 members in around 30 countries, and the associated Community is many times bigger. This presents quite a challenge when a situation arises requiring the sharing of complex information and wide-ranging discussion among all involved – as has recently happened following the broadcast of a BBC local TV programme in the UK.

‘Inside Out’, on 26th September 2016, included a 12-minute report referring to accounts of sexual misconduct in the early...

Triratna America - American History NH

By Candradasa on Tue, 18 Jun, 2013 - 15:49Today we’re going to be looking at some of the history of Triratna in the U.S. - how the institutions and community have evolved since 1985 when Aryaloka first opened its doors in the woods of New Hampshire…

First up is an old FWBO Newsreel’ clip from 1992, when Aryaloka was established yet everything was still fledgling in its way and about to undergo a major transition… Along with Dayalocana’s talk as part...
