Colchester Buddhist Centre is the hub of a thriving, friendly community that now has a fantastic new building in the heart of the town centre, with more classes, events and an ever-growing Sangha. 

The current Chair, Amalaketu, is stepping down next year after 8 years, and is looking to hand onto a suitable candidate. At this stage they are looking for expressions of interest, by 31st December 2018. Young people’s evenings are open to anybody with an interest in buddhism and meditation under the age of 35.

This is the first in a series of evenings looking at the five precepts and how they apply to us.

This month Jo will lead us looking into the first precept of do no harm, with the positive counterpart being loving kindness.

After saving for over 15 years we managed to buy the building from Colchester Borough Council, for the grand sum of GBP127,995. It has a long history and needs a lot of work. Most recently it was a doctor’s surgery; the treatment rooms and reception areas...

“This was my best visit so far. I ran newcomers’ sessions in Guelph, Toronto and Goderich. Average newcomer attendance figures of 3, 0 and 7 could have been depressing but old friends turned up and made them rich and engaging occasions. Quite a few would like me to be living there full time to run Dharma classes.
