On July 21st 2019, The Observer featured an article critical of the Triratna Buddhist Order and Community. As senior members of Triratna, we wanted to respond to some of the content, and to the general areas of concern raised around the conduct of members of the Order as they relate to the wellbeing of anyone connecting with our community.

Dear Order Members,

Dharmacarini Ujuka died on Sunday 21st of July around 11.25am. She was 85 years old.

She had congestive heart failure. Her two daughters Sue and Cate were with her. Earlier that morning Gambhiraja, Viryadana, Cheryl and myself had dedicated a white Tara puja to her while sitting around her bed. I and Cheryl were looking out to sea when a goshawk flew over and towards us a couple of times about the time her body finally stopped breathing.
