Bhante’s Birthday Puja

Bhante’s Birthday Puja

From Adhisthana on Tue, 25 Aug, 2020 - 15:26

On Wednesday 26th August, Adhisthana will be celebrating the anniversary of Bhante Sangharakshita’s birthday, as will be happening throughout Triratna. I find it hard to believe that only two years ago Bhante was still alive and would have been enjoying the celebrations at Adhisthana – probably with a vegan coffee and walnut cake that he would share with all those around him.

It is also the day when the Triratna centres continue with the 108 Year Puja that happens every year. I...

From Windhorse Publications on Mon, 24 Aug, 2020 - 14:30

This week we’re giving away the eBook edition of A Guide to the Bodhisattvas by Vessantara. Bodhisattvas, or ‘Enlightenment Beings’, are dedicated to one thing: working endlessly in the service of living beings, helping them to achieve Enlightenment. This book introduces a panoply of archetypal bodhisattvas from the Buddhist tradition and their visualization practices, including Avalokiteśvara, Mañjuśrī, Vajrapāṇi, Green Tārā and White Tārā.

In an interview in 2012, Vessantara commented:

“[One] main use of visualization practices is that they help us see clearly

Vegan Chocolate Cheesecake Bites with Homemade Strawberry Jam

From Vegan Buddhist on Wed, 19 Aug, 2020 - 00:29

I’ve always had this impression that jam and jelly were incredibly tricky to make. I’ve never properly used pectin, and any discussion of disinfecting and sealing Ball jars provokes anxiety. And yet, I’m well versed at compotes and fruit sauces to top pancakes and French toast in the morning! And they’re not so different. The ease with which every contestant on the Great British Bake Off whips up a jam for their cakes or trifles inspires me, and I’ve wanted...

Letting Go Of Fear

From Buddhist Centre Features on Tue, 18 Aug, 2020 - 18:20

The Buddha was said to be completely fearless. What does that mean for us?

We all experience fear at times. And fear has its uses! It can spur us into action and help us avoid danger. But fear can also imprison us and paralyze us. It can stop us from leading the life we want.

It’s a scary world sometimes. So how can we become fearless ourselves?

This is a beautiful animated film by Aryajit about how to face our fears and...

This week we’re giving away A Guide to the Buddhas by Vessantara, which is an essential addition to your virtual collection of Dharma books.
