Who is the Buddha Shakyamuni at the Centre of the Refuge Tree? Is it the historical Buddha Gautama from the Pali Canon, or the eternal Buddha from the White Lotus Sutra? The distinction between them isn't as clear as it seems and in the end the nature of the nature of the Buddha is mysterious and beyond our grasp. This talk was given during the Cosmic Refuge Tree retreat at Padmaloka in the autumn of 2022.

What is our connection with the Dharma texts in the context of the Going for Refuge and Prostration Practice? With Dharma texts in general? And with books in general? Padmasagara shares his reflections on these three questions in this somewhat personal talk, making the case that far from being mere bundles of paper and ink, books - and Dharma books in particular - are portals through which we can enter other dimensions of consciousness and bring about the transformation of self and world. This talk was given during the Cosmic Refuge Tree retreat at Padmaloka in the autumn of 2022.
