In this talk Shakyapada introduces the Buddha as a historical figure living in inspiring and uncertain times. We explore the culture and environment through which the Buddha travelled as he was teaching the Dharma and how his teachings were revolutionary. Shakyapada shares memories from the 2018 convention in India and the talk finishes with the Shakyamuni mantra and the Transference of Merit and Self surrender. This talk was given at the Croydon Buddhist Centre in March 2018 as part of our regular Saturday morning Sangha class.

Thanks to the strength of Kalyana Mitrata (spiritual friendship) and gifts to FutureDharma Fund, Mitras in Venezuela are benefitting from a rich programme of retreats, including studying the System of Practice and Mitra study on ‘What is the Sangha?’, as well as talks on William Blake.
