Samadhi Perfecto

From on Wed, 31 Jul, 2024 - 14:09

31 Augosto, sabado

The Way of Metta - Do We Know What's Good For Us?

From Sheffield Buddhist Centre on Wed, 31 Jul, 2024 - 00:00
Satyajyoti introduces us to the very beautiful and significant Karaniya Metta Sutta and will be posing the question 'Do we know what is truly good for us?' In a famous passage in the Itivutakka The Buddha compares Metta to the radiance of the sun and moon. He says that metta ‘shines and burns and blazes forth in surpassing all other acts of good’ and that ‘Whoever sets their mind to make goodwill grow Boundless’ ...will become Enlightened! In this Sangha Night series we will be using another famous teaching on metta, The Karaniya Metta Sutta, to take a really good look at the Metta Bhavana practice, both on the cushion and in daily life. Over the coming weeks we will be asking ‘Can metta really be a path to Enlightenment?’ and we will come to realise that The Buddha’s path to liberation can also be seen as ‘Living with Kindness’.

Utpaladhi - I’m the Team Coordinator, and I hold the overview of the Order Office’s work. I support the two International Order Convenors as their Assistant and often work with them on various projects for the flourishing of the Order, such as our big...

Last bookings and more programme information

“Although the words “Thus have I heard” have a literal historic meaning, they also suggest something more esoteric…just as the historical Ananda listened to the Buddha, so the Ananda inside us hears the voice of truth within…”

Sangharakshita, The Drama of Cosmic Enlightenment

This long weekend will follow the very successful format of last year’s Combined Area Order Weekend, hosted by the International Order Convenors and led by...

Health of Tarakarunya

From Order Connection on Mon, 29 Jul, 2024 - 09:55

Dear Order friends,

Our beloved Tarakarunya (‘she who has or is the compassion of Tara’) has recently been diagnosed with an advanced and rare form of brain cancer. Family and sangha has been able to find and transfer her to a beautifully supportive facility for her palliative/end-of-life care here in London.

An inspired artist, Tarakarunya’s flat is like a shrine, especially to her sadhana Green Tara, with whom she has a long-standing devotion and...

Karma and the Consequences of Our Actions (FBA Podcast)

From Free Buddhist Audio on Sat, 27 Jul, 2024 - 11:00

Here Ratnadharini takes us a little closer into the whole, often misunderstood area of karma in Buddhist thinking. She draws out the important details of the process that we call ‘actions and consequences’ - but her emphasis is always on putting what we learn into practice in real life, with other real people.

The fourth talk in a five-part series The Four Mind-Turning Reflections of the Tibetan tradition given at Tiratanaloka Retreat Centre,...
