Today’s FBA Dharmabyte, is called Compassionate Action by Sangharakshita. Hello beings

I have been trying to absorb (or meet?) my time at Adhistana on Friday and Saturday. It was such a beautiful, and cold (!), event, with the rain largely stopping and the sun coming through as we progressed through the metta bhavana.

Anyway, as well as writing a shabda report today after I’d got the kids off to school, I wrote a poem, which I thought I’d share.

With love from Sussex.

For all you gave, Bhante

For all you gave, Bhante

From Sangharakshita Memorial Space on Mon, 12 Nov, 2018 - 08:53

Namo Bhante, Guru Urgyen Sangharakshita

You opened up the meaning of what it is to be human, vast horizons of possibility. I will be for ever grateful for the beauty of the vision that you shared with us.

You showed us by example that it is possible to live from Sraddha, and gave us the teachings, practices, inspiration and means to do that. Above all perhaps, you gave us the courage. I am for ever grateful, and bow deep to you for the life you led as I follow that same...

Sangharakshita Foresees His Death

From Sangharakshita Memorial Space on Sun, 11 Nov, 2018 - 14:37

At Sangharakshita’s funeral the Adhisthana trees were filled with golden leaves and the cosmos still flowered burgundy and pink in the formal gardens. The weather changed from a chill breeze to warm sunshine, and heavy rain showers slowly gave way to clear skies stirred with barred clouds, turning ochre in the fading light. It was an autumn scene and filled, for me, with the evocations of autumn when the year declines towards winter, with all its intimations of mortality.

In the 1970s Sangharakshita...

After the funeral

From Triratna News on Sat, 10 Nov, 2018 - 22:52

Today Adhisthana welcomed 1,200-1,400 friends from many countries. They arrived throughout the morning by coach, train and car, drank 1,800 paper cups of tea and later disappeared into the darkness - after a few momentous and beautiful hours in which we said goodbye to our teacher, Bhante Sangharakshita.

I’d like to offer two impressions from today and some of Dhammarati’s photographs. (Click to see full-frame.)

The arrangements for a high quality Facebook Live online video transmission from the funeral mysteriously failed at the last minute, which...
