Could you be our next cook or do our publicity?

Bhante Urgyen Sangharakshita envisioned Adhisthana as a place of blessings, where the worldwide Triratna Buddhist Community would gather and engage wholeheartedly with his radical vision of the Dharma in all its breadth, depth and clarity. As we move out of the 10th anniversary year of Adhisthana’s opening and into celebrating the 100th anniversary of Sangharakshita’s birth, our founder and teacher’s vision remains dynamic and alive.

Central to unfolding this vision are Adhisthana’s two single-sex...

Join our Buddhist community in the beautiful Quantock Hills.

An exciting opportunity for enthusiastic cooks to join our kitchen team for 6-8 weeks during our summer retreat season. You’ll develop vegan cooking skills with our experienced chef, Jimmy, learning everything from simple salads to complex curries and delicious desserts. In the summer months, the majority of our produce comes from our wonderful walled garden. You’ll work with our garden team growing and harvesting, bringing fresh organic food from soil to plate.

January at Adhisthana

By Maitriyogini on Wed, 31 Jan, 2024 - 16:30

It has been a lovely start to the year already. The European Chairs Assembly came for their winter meeting, and it was a great way to kick off 2024; their clear up left the place spotless and you can usually find Maitridevi and a few others playing Bananagrams after dinner (and learn some new words; atavist and quinquereme anyone?).

In community news, Caroline will be going to Akasavana this year and will be ordained by Aryajaya – we look forward to...

Volunteer for Windhorse Publications!

By Windhorse Publi... on Mon, 6 Jan, 2020 - 09:00

We’re looking for a volunteer to provide temporary, part-time customer service cover while Helen, who normally covers that aspect of the business, is on leave.

Initially, we need cover for 8th–15th May 2020. This will involve up to 12 hours’ work (up to 2 hours per weekday; timing flexible). You’ll be working from home – or wherever you like! All you’ll need is a computer and an Internet connection.

The work is interesting and you’ll gain some experience of one aspect of a small publishing...

Thanks to Our Volunteer, Ciara

By Windhorse Publi... on Mon, 11 Jun, 2018 - 12:08

We appreciated having Ciara Myton join our team for five Tuesdays as a volunteer. Ciara has finished her second year of a publishing degree at Oxford Brookes University, and leant her friendliness and skills to our office.

Her work towards updating prices and ‘See Inside’ book excerpts on our website was a helpful contribution. She also helped start the mountainous task of cataloguing foreign-language editions of Windhorse Pubs titles. Finally, she researched target audiences for our upcoming new book I’ll...

This year, Dharmachakra (the team behind The Buddhist Centre Online and Free Buddhist Audio) is expanding. Thanks to grants from FutureDharma and the European Chairs’ Assembly, to mark our 5th birthday as a project we’re able to grow a little and move to the next phase – finally turning our attention to sustainable mobile development for all Triratna central websites and services.

If the thought of helping us out with work on mobile applications and spaces excites you,...

Visit Coogee Beach in Sydney

By Dhammalata on Sat, 20 Jan, 2018 - 08:44

One of our community members at Jayakula in beautiful Coogee Beach Sydney Australia is returning home to Scotland between April 17th and June 4th.

If you are an Order member who’d love to come and spend some time here and can think of some simple ways you could share your practice with our Coogee and Sydney Buddhist Centre Sangha, please contact me.

You’d only have to find your fare over and meet your own living expenses: accommodation in our lovely community would be free.

You can...
