In many of her talks about the Aryaloka stupa project, Viriyagita, has shared a video about the building and dedication of the stupa at the New Zealand retreat center, Sudarshanaloka, I think this must be the most dramatically situated of the four existing Dhardo Rinpoche stupas at Triratna centers around the world, and I found the video to be quite inspiring. Join the regional sangha for a scrumptious fundraising dinner at Aryaloka Buddhist Center on April 18th at 6:00 p.m. The menu includes a hearty soup to warm the winter chill, lovingly-created bread, salad, and cake for dessert to add a touch of sweetness. All this in addition to joyful sangha friends to break bread with!

I’ve been reflecting quite a bit on the stupa visualization practice since visiting with my preceptor, Karunadevi, in San Francisco last month. I remember how she taught the practice, and how fascinated I was to be engaging in such primal, simple act conjuring the elements in vibrant, colorful forms. I felt connected to the whole universe, and beyond, in ways that I have never experienced before. So grounding, and yet so expansive.

Our Stupa fundraising is going well- We have about $11,000 collected and need a total of $34,000 to actualize this dream to build a stupa dedicated to Dhardo Rimpoche. We still have a ways to go, but are feeling both inspired and optimistic.
