Chairs' Letter – February 2022

By Jnanavaca on Tue, 1 Mar, 2022 - 13:39

Dear Order Members and Friends,

As one of her deputies, Ratnadharini asked me to write this month’s letter from the College.

My month began with ‘landing back’ from a three week solitary retreat at the LBC’s retreat centre, Vajrasana. It was the first proper solitary I’d had since the start of the pandemic and it felt like balm. I emerged refreshed and energised in a way that I haven’t felt for a long time. The...

Dear Order members and friends,

Dear Order members and friends,

This month the annual international College meeting was a complex hybrid affair, taking place partly in person at Adhisthana, and partly online. Akasajoti came up with a schedule that not only took into account the different time zones, but also maximised crossover by shuffling us into different configurations; she even set up interactive zoom screen in the shrine room that meant we could all see and hear each other.

We began...

The Central Buddhist Act: Catch-Up

By akasajoti on Wed, 17 Nov, 2021 - 19:18

During the annual international meeting of the College of Public Preceptors in November 2021, we invited all Order Members and those training for Ordination into our Order to join us for an online event exploring the significance of ordination within the Triratna Buddhist Order.

Hosted by Vajrajyoti, from New Zealand, and Maitreyabandhu from the UK, the event included three short talks from Padmavajra, Vajratara and Ratnavyuha, on the central Buddhist act of Going for Refuge, and we also heard three inspiring...

Eight Guidelines | Spiritual Friendship

Subhadramati and Vajrashura, from London (UK) and Dublin (Ireland), reflect on the practice of spiritual friendship and the value of community, in the fifth in a series of informal, personal, conversations between Public Preceptors about the Eight Guidelines for Ordination Training.

The Eight Guidelines offer a framework through which Order Members and Mitras can reflect on and communicate about their going for refuge and process of training for Ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order. In this series, members of the Preceptors’...
