On Saturday 18th March, 2017, in a public ordination ceremony at Guhyaloka Retreat Centre in Spain

Ruben Sánchez became Yaśomani: “He who is an excellent jewel”
(Westernised spelling Yashomani).
Private preceptor Moksananda
Public preceptor Moksananda

Ruben Sánchez se convirtió en Yaśomaṇi: “El que es una joya excelente”
(Ortografía occidentalizada Yashomani ).
Preceptor privado: Moksananda
Preceptor público: Moksananda

Is Triratna's equal ordination really unique in the Buddhist world?

Recently someone asked me whether it is true that Triratna is unique in the Buddhist world in ordaining women and men equally, as we often say. Here is my reply, which does not claim to be definitive.

“In bhikkhuni (female) ordination (Theravada and Mahayana) women have to be ordained by women and then also by men, whereas bhikkhus (men) are ordained only by men. ie there is a double ordination for women but not for men.

Its lineage having died out, the ‘double’ Theravada bhikkhuni ordination has...

We are happy to announce the ordination of Gurbej Cchahal Singh on 9th August at Bor Dharan retreat centre near Nagpur, India.

Public preceptor: Chandrasil 
Private preceptor: Subhuti

He was given the name Kushalveer (Indian spelling) - Kusalavira (western spelling) - ‘ethical or skilful hero’.

Kushalveer is the first Punjab-born Order member.

Ordination at the London Buddhist Centre

Tony Murray Jones was publicly ordained at the London Buddhist Centre on 8th March.

He becomes Shraddhajit: ’He who is victorious through faith’.

His name, in romanised Sanskrit, is spelt Sraddhajit (acute accent on the first ‘s’ and a dash over the second ‘a’).

Private preceptor Jnanavaca; public preceptor Maitreyabandhu.
