working retreat at Akashavana

From Akashavana on Wed, 26 Nov, 2025 - 17:18

This month we’re really happy to share a guest blog from Dharmataru…

Now sitting in my kitchen in Nottingham looking at the grey gloom outside the memory of Akashavana and the bright blue sky is still very strong for me. I got back a week ago from an 8 day work retreat. I was the only ‘punter’ and spent these days as an additional member of the community alongside Padmasakhi, Bodhipaksini and Vidyachandra.

The main focus of the retreat was to give energy and...

From Spiral to Mandala

From Sheffield Buddhist Centre on Wed, 26 Nov, 2025 - 00:00
At this Tuesday's Sangha Night, Nagavajri will evoke the 5 Buddha Mandala and help us feel into how the culmination of the spiral path could open up for us. During this theme we'll be looking at The Wheel of Life, a living symbol that encompasses the entirety of existence. We'll learn how to escape from the prison and sufferings of Samsara, towards ever increasing positive and expansive states of being, towards the ultimate goal of Awakening. We'll be taking a contemporary look at this ancient symbol, visiting it's realms and their beings from the depths of the hell realm to the heights of the heavenly abodes, and asking what do these realms look like in our modern society and world? Expect support for home practice, practical ideas of how to bring these traditional teachings into your everyday life, and reflections on how to make your Great Escape!

Resignation of Ratnashri

From Order Connection on Wed, 19 Nov, 2025 - 17:37

Dear Order Members,

I am sad to announce the resignation of Ratnashri from Thane, India.
She was ordained in 2008 with Jnanasuri as her Private Preceptor and myself as her Public Preceptor. Ratnashri sent a resignation letter some time ago. We have been reluctant to accept her resignation, however we now recognise that it is necessary and appropriate to do so.

Ratnashri had earlier made an important contribution to our Order as Women’s Order Convenor...

Dhammadinna’s gently balanced and encouraging talk explores various perspectives on one of the fundamental questions, and clearly lays out various Buddhist approaches to the nature of our existence and consciousness, especially in relation to the other realms of the Tibetan wheel of life.
