Using mindfulness as a tool we can learn to work with thoughts to become more creative and energetic, and better able to face life’s challenges.

Life with Full Attention is a practical course that puts mindfulness back into its Buddhist context. While considering the demands of modern life, the course guides us towards the limitless potential of our mind and reality itself.

For the first time, this course will be accompanied by a Life With Full Attention app that’s been specifically designed...

From London Buddhist Centre on Fri, 2 Feb, 2024 - 00:00
The challenges to leading a truly fulfilling life today may seem vastly different from those faced by the Buddha, but the principles for overcoming them remain the same. In this talk, which is the first of a series of three, Subhuti talks about the rise of anxiety and depression in modern culture and what we can do counter this through Dharma practice.

A temporary opportunity to work at the North London Buddhist Centre

From Jobs, Volunteering & Communities on Thu, 1 Feb, 2024 - 14:14

Our colleague Alana has been invited on the ordination retreat,
meaning that there is an opportunity for someone to join the North
London Buddhist Centre for the four months April to July. You would be
joining a  friendly and experienced team at the Centre. To really get
the benefits of working in a team-based right livelihood we would
prefer if the person was London based, although remote working might
be possible too.

January at Adhisthana

From Adhisthana on Wed, 31 Jan, 2024 - 16:30

It has been a lovely start to the year already. The European Chairs Assembly came for their winter meeting, and it was a great way to kick off 2024; their clear up left the place spotless and you can usually find Maitridevi and a few others playing Bananagrams after dinner (and learn some new words; atavist and quinquereme anyone?).

In community news, Caroline will be going to Akasavana this year and will be ordained by Aryajaya – we look forward to...

Effective care in the Order

From Abhayaratna Trust on Wed, 31 Jan, 2024 - 15:05

As you may be aware, the Abhayaratna Trust has been working on a Local Care Network project, aimed at helping local sanghas embody a more explicit culture of care, able more effectively to meet the needs of sangha members (and navigate the complexities of government and charity support services).

This aim is beautifully evoked in a short video by Akashamitra. In describing how Order members came together to provide care for Vidyajyoti he says, ‘I had never seen anything like it before’....
