Abode, Robe and Throne

From Sheffield Buddhist Centre on Wed, 9 Jul, 2025 - 00:00
Nagavajri will explore compassion, patience and emptiness - how do these themes relate to the Buddha's teaching in the White Lotus Sutra and how can we practice them in our lives? In this series we are exploring the profound teachings of the White Lotus Sutra, presented through a combination of poetry, drama, parables and what can seem like cosmic science fiction, and the way these have the potential to free us to take our practice of the Dharma to a new level.

The Meaning of the Dharma (FBA Podcast)

From Free Buddhist Audio on Sat, 5 Jul, 2025 - 11:00

Dharma is the experience of reality, and also the expression of that experience in the form of the Buddha’s teaching, especially the law of conditionality. It is the raft that carries you to Enlightenment, the further shore; it is whatever helps you to develop spiritually. This classic talk by Sangharakshita was given in 1968 as part of the series Introducing the Three Jewels of Buddhism.

Mindfulness: The Undiscovered Foundations

From Shabda Articles on Thu, 3 Jul, 2025 - 11:22

In this post I want to share the ‘theoretical heart’ of my book on mindfulness. By bringing together the teaching of Conditionality with the four satipatthanas, we can hopefully see clearly how the whole system works without any need for a ‘self’ behind it. Mindfulness is brought to bear on the four satipatthanas to turn them from being sources of suffering to being sources of happiness, with that happiness manifesting on higher levels of skilfulness, up to the ‘bliss of Nirvana.’
