New Podcast Episode - Train Your Mind: Lojong and the Art of Wise Compassion

From Windhorse Publications on Tue, 22 Jul, 2025 - 12:11

What if your struggles could become tools for awakening? What if a few short slogans could reshape how you meet life’s challenges?

In this episode, Dhammamegha speaks with Dhirananda and Viryabodhi, authors of Train Your Mind: Tibetan Exercises in Wisdom and Compassion — a fresh, practical guide to the ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice of Lojong. Together, they explore how mind-training slogans like “Don’t expect applause”, “At this crucial time, practise the essentials”, and “Blame it all on the one culprit” offer pithy,...

The Wheel of Life | A User’s Manual for Samsara

From Portsmouth Buddhist Center on Tue, 15 Jul, 2025 - 16:57

In our Sunday sessions this summer, we will explore some core ideas about the difficulties of the human situation and the possibilities that the Dharma (the teaching of the Buddha) presents for us as we try to navigate it. The Bhavachakra or Wheel of Life is both a teaching tool and a mirror. It vividly illustrates the workings of the Buddha’s insight into conditionality and karma. When we look into the Wheel, we see ourselves: our pleasure, our pain, our...

Padmasambhava Invocation by Mangala

From Lights In The Sky on Wed, 9 Jul, 2025 - 20:30

Wanstead, London 5 July 2025

Hi Suryaprabha - many thanks indeed. The filming and recording is excellent - far far better than I imagined it would be. My invocation is actually quite good, isn’t it ?!!  I should share it, but don’t know how to do it, unless you mean to individuals on whatsapp ? Also, I think calling it an Invocation is exactly right - I wasn’t sure what to call it before. Many thanks again - can’t believe you did this on...

Three Sundays: September 28, October 26, November 23
12:30 - 3pm, in-person only, at Gateway Taiji

The Dalai Lama has famously said, “my religion is kindness.” The Buddha said, “I teach suffering and the cessation of suffering.” In our fall women’s practice days, we will explore the connections between these two pithy summations of the Buddhist path and what they can bring to our own lives. To frame and structure our three sessions, we will use a classic teaching on kindness,...
