What is it like to engage with ordination? This is a personal account of one person’s experience of attending the men’s ordination retreat at Guhyaloka in 2014.

It’s an honest and revealling exploration of the inner work done drawing on the work of Joseph Campbell and the myth of St George and the Dragon.

Ordination at Adhisthana, UK

By Munisha on Wed, 27 Aug, 2014 - 00:18Jill Vernon of the West Midlands Sangha, UK, was publicly ordained at Adhisthana on Monday 25th August.

She becomes Moksapuspa (dots under each ’s’ and long final ‘a’), which means in Sanskrit ‘She who is a flower of liberation’. The westernised spelling is Mokshapushpa. Her private preceptor was Suchitta and her public preceptor Parami.

New Chair-elect for the College of Public Preceptors

By Munisha on Thu, 24 Jul, 2014 - 00:45Triratna’s College of Public Preceptors has announced the election of Saddhaloka as its new Chair, to take over from Dhammarati in 2015.

The Chair of the Preceptors’ College is elected by the College every five years. Dhammarati will come to the end of his second term in August 2015 and Saddhaloka is expected to take up the position in the first half of next year. By Munisha on Sun, 20 Jul, 2014 - 20:56Sally Birch (of Sheffield, previously of Deal) was ordained privately on Thursday 17th July at Tiratanaloka, and publicly on Saturday 19th July at the Sheffield Buddhist Centre, UK.

She becomes Dayaraksita (long second and last ‘a’s, and a dot under the ’s’), a sanskrit name meaning ‘She who is Protected by Kindness’.
