Our beautiful new online project to document 50 years of people’s commitment and practice within the Triratna Buddhist Order around the world.

The Triratna Buddhist Order turns 50 on the 7th of April 2018. The Dharma is alive amongst our 2,000+ Order Members across the globe, in many forms.

Triratna is founded on a radically traditional vision – what does that mean in practice? What does that really look like, feel like, ‘taste like’? This fiftieth birthday is an ideal time to bring together a...

Advice to the 100 Fortunate Women - Parami

By akasajoti on Sat, 9 Dec, 2017 - 10:57

The closing talk from the women’s area order weekend at Adhisthana in December 2017. The weekend was on the theme of Padmasambhava and the Arising of Faith.

Parami riffs off of the Advice from the Lotus Born given to Yeshe Tsogyal on the conditions for the arising of faith. She talks of a vision she had of Padmasambhava at Dhanakhosa earlier in the year, and her reflections since on the relevance of Padmasambhava to her personally, to the Order, and to the...

The third presentation on the Blazing in the Fires of Sunyata retreat, held at Adhisthana in 2017, on the theme of Metta and Bodhicitta.

Parami presented Hri and Apatrapya, the two Lokapalas, unfolding a single line in the Karaniya Metta Sutta: “One should not pursue the slightest thing for which other wise men might censure them.

Both Hri and Apatrapya express a positive sense of remorse and regret, one in relation to our own inner ethical sensitivity, the other in relation to the...

Dhammarati takes us through the ethical foundations of Metta expressed in the Karaniya Metta Sutta, drawing out their relationship with attha, or ‘the good’. Following a quote from James Hillman:

Purpose in our lives doesn’t usually appear as a clearly framed goal, it appears more likely as a troubling unclear urge coupled with a sense of dutiful importance. This sense...
