A fascinating look through Triratna’s history via this realistic portrayal of Sangharakshita and his friendships. This film also includes a take on his sexuality in an honest and direct way.

I really enjoyed the film - and wanted it to keep going! I loved the appropriate and often witty juxtapositions… My overwhelming response was one of delight.

Arriving back in England Sangharakshita formed a friendship with Terry Delamare, who worked in advertising. Their brief but devoted companionship was an antidote to the mid 60s world of British Buddhism and they shared a love of travel. After its partial decriminalisation Sangharakshita embarked on a couple of homosexual relationships.

I started Great Ocean by writing to and later meeting Sangharakshita in June 2018. My idea was a film to explore a range of friendships in his life and he was quick to name two very important ones: Buddharakshita and Terry Delamare.

In this first part, we meet Buddharakshita, Sangharakshita’s companion in the holy life who facilitated the transition to living in India. A first person account taken from several memoirs vividly brought to life with found footage.

New Lights in the Sky Film Celebrating 50 Years of the Triratna Buddhist Order

Lights in the Sky have just released a new film celebrating 50 years of the Triratna Buddhist Order, which was founded in London on the 7 April 1968. ‘The Life of the Order’ contains archive footage and interviews with Order Members and gives a rounded picture of the era out of which the Order emerged.

The film is a 45 minute compilation of the main themes of the four-part History of the FWBO series.

My trip to Sri Lanka January 2017 was a chance for me to try shooting 4k with a Sony AX100 camera bought second hand just days before the flight from London. So an experiment. Edited, and even sound edited, on FCP X. Altogether a new and, um, interesting experience.
