Voices from Ireland

By Sadayasihi on Mon, 25 Jun, 2018 - 17:48

Here is a short podcast with members of the Irish Sangha discussing what has motivated them, and what continues to inspire them, to practice the Dharma. From ‘finding my friends’ and a sense of meaning to life, to building a Buddha-land and being able to practice within one’s own culture, Jnanadhara, Vajrashura, and Pavara together with Mitras Julie, Sean and Kristina share their thoughts.

Recorded in the Dublin Buddhist Centre during Triratna Day in April 2018.

By Sadayasihi on Fri, 5 Jun, 2015 - 15:30

Compassion is far more than emotion. It is something that springs

Up in the emptiness which is when you yourself are not there,

Nobody, in fact, knows anything about it (If they knew it, it would not be Compassion);

But they can only smell

The scent of the unseen flower

That blooms in the Heart of the Void

(‘The Unseen Flower’, by Bhante)

BAM in Ireland opened with a retreat over the June bank holiday weekend in the lovely surroundings of Sandville House, Co. Cavan.  Twenty...

Dublin mitra and academic Dr Laurence Cox is researching the life of the Irishman Dhammaloka (Laurence Carroll) who, he believes, has a strong claim to be the first Westerner to be ordained a Buddhist monk, preceding the ordination of Ananda Metteya by a few years.
