Reinstatement of Dhammachari Gaganabhadra

Reinstatement of Dhammachari Gaganabhadra

From Order Connection on Tue, 27 Sep, 2022 - 10:50

Dear Friends,

Four years ago, Dhammachari Gaganabhadra from Pune, India, was suspended from the Order for a serious breach of the Precepts. Since then he has faced up to what he did and worked on himself to understand what happened and to learn how to avoid it happening again.

He has especially worked closely with Dhammachari Adityabodhi and we are now satisfied that his suspension can be lifted and he can take his place in the Order as a Dhammachari in good standing.

Dhammachari Subhuti,

Private and Public Preceptor to Gaganabhadra

The Great Gathering: Dancing with Pure Presence 2022

From Taraloka Retreat Centre on Tue, 27 Sep, 2022 - 00:00

In June 2022, Order Members and Mitras Training For Ordination gathered together in a big marquee set up in Taraloka's beautiful grounds to listen to a series of talks and guided meditations led by Vajradevi on the theme of the Satipatthana Sutta.

Reflecting on the theme of the weekend Vajradevi said: "When we’re mindful and present to what’s happening – both ‘internally’ and ‘externally’ – our responses become steady, wise, and confident. Whatever we’re doing, whether we’re meditating, working, communicating, or singing, becomes a vehicle to ‘grow’ awareness. Mindfulness becomes panoramic and we live with immediacy and creativity."

The Heart Sutra is one of the most familiar of all Buddhist texts and, inevitably, there are innumerable takes on ‘what it means’. How do we square the opening statement that the skandhas (our psycho–physical constituents) are ‘empty’ with the following one that ‘in emptiness’ there are no skandhas,...
