The Threefold Puja

The Threefold Puja

From Community Highlights on Thu, 11 Apr, 2013 - 21:04And while we’re at it, here is the Threefold Puja!

This is a shorter compilation of verses composed by Urgyen Sangharakshita for general use in the Triratna Buddhist Community. The Threefold Puja is often performed at Buddhist Centres and on retreat, and it’s a beautifully weighted little text that brings our emotions into play alongside rational understandings of the Buddhist path.

The Sevenfold Puja

The Sevenfold Puja

From Community Highlights on Thu, 11 Apr, 2013 - 20:56Another post to mark Triratna’s anniversaries this week. Munisha pointed out that we didn’t have the Sevenfold Puja text as a file on our site. Well we sort of did, but only as a link… Well, offering that kind of thing is something we’ll be able to address much more fully with time (and resources!), but for now this particular instance is easy to rectify! Here’s a version we prepared for the last Urban Retreat, for...

Interviewing Lokamitra and Subhuti in India

From Free Buddhist Audio on Thu, 11 Apr, 2013 - 20:24“Why do you want to interview them together?” a few people asked me in India. Something to do with wanting to hold up the best exemplars in our community. Not perfect people, not “famous” people, just Dharma farers who have given their lives to working for the benefit of others. Also, they were there! And I was there. And I might never get the chance again…

Seeking Cushion-Makers!

From New Ventures on Thu, 11 Apr, 2013 - 17:03There seems to be Triratna meditation groups springing up all over the UK at the moment; they all need basic shrine equipment - but it’s expensive! I’d like to explore the possibility of getting someone (in the UK I assume) to make a load of meditation cushion covers and mats for us to purchase at wholesale prices. My idea is that we could just get the covers made and people could arrange stuffing locally - that way postage...

From Community Highlights on Thu, 11 Apr, 2013 - 00:30
To continue our extended celebration of ‘Triratna Weekend’, here is an interview (in a rather noisy restaurant!) from the end of the 2013 Order Convention in India with two pivotal figures in the Triratna Buddhist Order who have helped shape it and the wider community, east and west, since the late ’60s and early ’70s.

Lokamitra and Subhuti are always worth listening to - and this is full of delights and insights about...

Scattering Devapriya's Ashes in Glastonbury

From Glastonbury Buddhist Group on Mon, 8 Apr, 2013 - 22:02Two weeks ago about 20 of us, including many from the Buddhafield Village Retreat’s ‘Heart Team’ gathered in Glastonbury for a ceremony to scatter Dharmachari Devapriya’s ashes, as he had requested. He died in November and was given a royal send-off at the North London Buddhist Centre; his ashes were then divided into four with one part coming to Glastonbury where for many many years he had been a Companion of the Chalice Well and a lover of all things...

Public Ordination in New Zealand on Triratna Weekend!

From Community Highlights on Mon, 8 Apr, 2013 - 19:35

A warm Triratna hello from Sudarshanaloka Retreat Centre in New Zealand! We had a very special celebration today with the public ordination of Nityadana (which translates into ‘he who is constantly giving’ … previously known as Guy Parsons). Nityadana and Sanjiva, who is his private preceptor, had spent the previous two weeks on retreat in one of the solitary huts.

There were about 40-50 of us at the public ordination ceremony which was conducted...
