Polishing the mirror

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Tue, 24 Feb, 2015 - 00:53The Buddhist tradition likens the work we need to do to uncover the pure, lustrous being that we actually are to polishing a dirty plate, bowl or mirror.

Through our own effort and the example, support and inspiration of others we can gradually remove the obscurations that get in the way of our pure, enlightened nature.

Meditation is an extremely important component of this polishing; it helps us to stop, see and make better choices ….

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Tue, 17 Feb, 2015 - 03:09The Buddha rated friendship extremely highly. One day one of his disciples declared to him ‘Friendship is half of the spiritual life’ to which he replied ‘Say not so Ananda – friendship is the whole of the spiritual life’

Getting support and encouragement from like minded friends is essential if we are to sustain interest and momentum in pretty much anything and meditation, growth and development is no different.

Our Coogee meditation group is a friendly one...
