Our Own Direct Experience

I've been challenged recently to try to write more from my own perspective when sending out these Tuesday emails.

It's one thing to borrow from the inspiration of another and drop in a quote but a different task to draw on your own experience and share from your own 'well'  .....

In a way meditation does this to us. Every time we sit down on the chair or cushions to meditate we have the opportunity for an intimate meeting with our own mind. There's also the chance to 'goof off' and get caught up in day-dreaming, planning, scheming and worrying but if we're watchful and courageous we can meet ourselves and get to know ourselves in a very direct and unguarded way. And out of this much gentle magic arises ....

To just get to know and understand our own mind in meditation and to do this supported by metta (kindness and friendliness) is a great, great gift.

I hope you'll join us for meditation this week.
