Not only is it the 50th anniversary of the Triratna Buddhist Community, it is also the 60th anniversary of the first publication of ‘A Survey of Buddhism’, Sangharakshita’s seminal introduction (a rather weighty one) to Buddhism: ‘its doctrines and methods through the ages’.  This book is studied by those training for ordination on ‘The Transcendental Principle’ retreat.  Tiratanaloka are running that retreat right now, and to celebrate both anniversaries we will be giving you a quote each day.  So for today’s quote….

The attainment of Enlightenment is a constantly recurring event in the universe, and the advent, after the elapsing of vast periods of time of an enlightened human being, an integral part of the structure and workings of phenomenal existence. Ch1.5

Great idea, Vajratara! :)

Can you give each post a slightly different title? Will help people find and differentiate later when searching, and in the dedicated ‘archive’ section of this space. eg. for this post: ’Quote from The Survey: Attainment of Enlightenment”?

When adding a shorter explanation at the top of each post I’d also suggest including a link to your fuller initial post, like this: Short blurb + Read more about this project
