Viveka exploring the theme of racism from the perspective of the Dharma and what the Buddha had to say about complex conditionality. A timely look at understanding - and ultimately undoing - the patterns that lead to prejudice and bias, of all kinds.

Specifically, this talk investigates:

  • Opening to the inter-personal, organizational, and societal conditioning that perpetuates racial bias.
  • Understanding ‘implicit bias’, which is how thoughts, feelings, emotions, and actions are influenced (largely unconsciously) by exposure to stereotypes and fears about targeted social groups.

This Being retreat day 6, How everything ties together

By Yashobodhi on Thu, 10 Apr, 2014 - 13:50
In the last session of the This Being retreat, Dhivan moves from the three marks of existence to the Middle Way and ends with Nibbana. This is the last full day of the retreat and nearly the end of the uploads here from this retreat. I will hopefully post the This Being That Becomes round chant we have...

This being, led meditation 5

By Yashobodhi on Thu, 10 Apr, 2014 - 09:57

This Being retreat day 4, How views and Emotions arise

By Yashobodhi on Tue, 8 Apr, 2014 - 14:53
Today we’re exploring the underlying tendencies that give shape to our experience. We’re also going into the psychology of conceptual and perceptual proliferation and are presented with a model that explains how exactly we become a proverbial ‘tangle of string covered in mould and matted like grass’.

This Being retreat day 2, The Application of Conditionality

By Yashobodhi on Tue, 8 Apr, 2014 - 13:58
We’ve moved into the territory of the creative and reactive mind, of the spiral path and samsara, and the pivotal role of feeling in the nidana chain. Here’s Dhivan going into this and translating all this lingo into everyday English.
