7-11pm 1 November
11pm - 7am 1/2 November

Thousands of deaths are occurring in the collective in different parts of the globe in this very moment that you are reading this. And yet it is precisely this sense of preservation that separates us from the fullness of life experience, the...

Buddhist Teachers in Europe

From Triratna in the Buddhist World on Thu, 10 Oct, 2024 - 13:09

Every year, as Triratna’s Liaison officer, I attend the residential meeting of Buddhist Teachers in Europe, a very informal gathering of people who teach in various Buddhist traditions.

Our latest meeting took place 24th-29th September in a newly built Ch’an retreat centre in the hills west of Zagreb, Croatia, hosted by the country’s oldest Buddhist group, started decades ago in what was then Yugoslavia.

September at Adhisthana

From Adhisthana on Thu, 3 Oct, 2024 - 10:12

The Maltese sangha, who joined us for the combined sanghas retreat on Living with Kindness, have made a beautiful new contribution to the alcoves in the main shrine. The atmosphere on-site was as warm as you’d expect from an international gathering of sanghas practicing metta bhavana.

We were also delighted to welcome Shubhavyuha back after her six-month sabbatical in Australia, where among other things, she helped run an ordination retreat. The women’s community is enjoying her positivity and kalyana mitrata, and celebrated...

Chair's Letter – September

From College of Public Preceptors on Tue, 1 Oct, 2024 - 09:00

Dear Order Members and Friends,

Back in July, as part of our search for new – larger – premises for Tiratanaloka, our retreat centre for women training for ordination, the team visited a Carmelite monastery about an hour north east of London, and thought it looked very promising. A couple of weeks ago we heard our offer had been accepted, so we’re very excited and hoping for a smooth transition. If you’d like to know more you can...

The Call of the Wise

From Portsmouth Buddhist Center on Fri, 13 Sep, 2024 - 21:39

“Call forth as much as you can of love, of respect and of faith!
Remove the obstructing defilements, and clear away all your taints!
Listen to the Perfect Wisdom of the gentle Buddhas
Taught for the weal of the world, for heroic spirits intended!”
The Buddha from the Ratnagunasamcayagatha

The Buddhist Path begins with the human situation, with the reality of change and loss and the reality of wonderment, inspiration and spiritual transformation within the processes of impermanence....
