Mahasukha, an Order Member and musician-singer-songwriter from Brighton UK, writes with news of his new setting of the Shakyamuni mantra, saying - “Hi, I wondered if you’d put something about my new Shakyamuni mantra on thebuddhistcentre/triratna news’ please? The link is mahasukha.bandcamp.com/track/shakyamuni-mantra.
“The Buddha’s been ‘around’ lately and I’ve been wanting to find a good, new Shakyamuni mantra for a while. I happened to be listening to Norwegian Jazz saxophonist Jan Garbarek’s Molde Canticle, found on his album, I Took Up The Runes, and 24 hrs later I’d put the Shakyamuni mantra to it. Fab! So I’m indebted to him for the music and the inspiration”.
Mahasukha is based in Brighton UK, and has for many years been leading the Soulful Singing (www.soulfulsinging.co.uk) workshops and mantra-based rituals and retreats around the UK - including the Buddhafield Festival and on The Call of Beauty retreats at Dhanakosa. He’s recorded a CD called ‘Soulful Spirit’ and the Shakyamuni mantra is taken from ‘Longing’, his current work in progress, available online at www.mahasukha.bandcamp.com. There’s photos taken at his workshops here.
