Vacancy at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre: Centre Manager

Vacancy at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre: Centre Manager

An opportunity to work in team-based right livelihood in Birmingham!

Closing date for applications: Noon on Friday 7 June: Interviews: Week commencing 17 June

We're looking for a flexible, energetic and effective organiser with a welcoming approach and good communication skills to join the Centre Team and, in particular, to take responsibility for the day-to-day administration of our thriving Buddhist Centre. So you'll also need to be attentive to detail and competent in the usual kinds of office software.

Based in the office, the Centre Manager deals with reception and enquiries, organises school visits and room hire, oversees housekeeping, supervises volunteers, maintains our basic financial systems, helps with running the Birmingham Mindfulness programme, and produces day-to-day publicity materials. Experience suggests there will be opportunities to expand the role over time.

This is a full-time job with some flexibility to establish regular working hours between 9am and 6pm. Some work in the evening or at the weekend may occasionally be required. And there's plenty of scope to be involved in the broader life of the Buddhist Centre.

A modest support package is payable, and an annual retreat allowance is available. The Buddhist Centre offers a contributory workplace pension scheme. Annual leave is normally 6 weeks a year.

We believe in equality of opportunity, but in this role there is a genuine occupational requirement for a Triratna Buddhist.

For more information about this opportunity and an application form, email Dharmashura, Charity Director, at bbcdharmashura@aol.com. If you have questions, or would like to chat informally about the role, call him on 0121 449 5279.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to start on 1 August 2019, or perhaps sooner to allow for a brief hand-over period with the current post-holder.
