Welsh is my first language, although I haven’t lived in Wales since I was 18, it’s the language of my heart, a short cut to my emotions.

I learnt to meditate in Dhanakosa in 2009 and since then am a regular Cambridge sangha member training for ordination.  My mother Anantamani, translated the puja into Welsh 15 years ago. Since asking for ordination I have often been invited to share the positive precepts in Welsh at the end of gfr retreats.  This has always felt incredibly integrating, that a part of me was being seen and recognised by the team and it also deepened my relationship with Anantamani. Lovely as that was, I had never had the opportunity to regularly practice the dharma through Welsh … until …  an email popped up from the dynamic Kamalagita, Chair of Cardiff Buddhist Centre, during the latter stages of 2020.  All sangha activity was on line and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to connect with Welsh speaking Buddhists. A small team, Anantamani, Kamalagita, Medi, Prajnavaca and I started meeting to plan a regular meditation drop in evening.  Since March we have been meeting fortnightly with 26 people who have signed up to receiving updates, we have regular attendance from Buddhists throughout Wales, England and Canada!  The joy that people express from meditating together through Welsh is palpable,  it’s connecting us through our shared love of the dharma and the Welsh language… it’s one of the benefits of the new zoom world we’re inhabiting that has allowed for this positive force to develop.  We’re meeting fortnightly and busy planning the next stage of the project which continues to open up my heart.

Manylion yma: https://cardiffbuddhistcentre.com/events/event/newydd-myfyrdod-yn-y-gymraeg-6/

Cymraeg yw fy iaith gyntaf er nad ydw i wedi byw yng Nghymru ers imi droi yn 18 - Cymraeg yw iaith fy nghalon, iaith fy emosiynau.

Fe ddysgais i fyfyrio yn Dhanakosa yn 2009 ac ers hynny wedi bod yn aelod rheolaidd o sangha Caergrawnt ac yn hyfforddi gogyfer ordeinio. Fe gyfiaethodd fy mam Anantamani y puja i’r Gymraeg 15 mlynedd yn ol,  a pam wyf ar encilion hyfforddi gogyfer ordeino byddaf yn rhannu yr argymhelliadau  positif yng Nghymraeg. Mae’r profiad hynny wastad wedi bod yn un mawr imi, yn cysylltu fi efo pwysicrwydd fy iaith ac yn dyfnhau fy mherthynas efo Anantamani. Dyna oedd yr unig brofiad o’r dharma trwy’r Gymraeg imi- tan ddoeth e bost gan Kamalagita, Cadeirydd y Ganolfan yng Nghaerdydd yn niwedd 2020 yn ymestyn gwahoddiad i gychwyn sangha Cymraeg ar lein. Gan fod pawb yn myfyrio ar zoom - roedd hyn yn adeg perffaith i gysylltu a Bwdyddion Cymraeg.  Ddoth tim bach at eu gilydd i drefnu noson rheolaidd o fyfyrio, Anantamani, Kamalagita, Medi, Prajnavaca a finna. Mi ydan ni’n dal i gwrdd bob pythefnos dros yr haf ac mi ydan ni’n brysur yn cynllunio y cam nesaf i’r sangha Cymraeg sy’n agor fy nghalon i bob math o bosibiliadau.
