Last month the team at Windhorse Publications had the pleasure of welcoming intern Gayathri Mahesh one day a week for four weeks. A graduate in Civil Engineering from Chennai, India, Gayathri has a passion for writing and is currently studying for an MA in Creative Writing and Publishing at Anglia Ruskin University.

Gayathri achieved a lot in only four days. Her first task was to liaise with publishing director, Priyananda, to gather information about on-demand printing. This included arranging phone interviews with users and providers of print on demand services, taking minutes of the interviews, and being involved in discussions about next steps.

Gayathri’s second task was to assist with the marketing of one of this year’s new titles, David Brazier’s ‘The Dark Side of the Mirror’, which is a new translation of and commentary on Zen master Dōgen’s Genjō Kōan. She collected information from multiple sources to select Zen groups to whom we will send marketing material, and created address labels for over one hundred recipients around the world.

Gayathri’s final task was to put together a concise and user-friendly guide for bookshop managers by picking out and organizing relevant information from two lengthy documents kindly provided by Aryavajra, who runs the bookshop at the North London Buddhist Centre. The Bookshop Manager Guide Gayathri created is available for download here.

The team at Windhorse Publications would like to thank Gayathri for her help and wish her all the best for her MA and her future career.
