A new audiobook
One of our best-selling titles has just been released as an audiobook. It’s the award-wining Eight Step Recovery: Using the Buddha’s Teachings to Overcome Addiction by Valerie Mason-John (Vimalasara) and Dr Paramabandhu Groves.
Human nature has an inbuilt tendency towards addiction. Many of us self-medicate in response to hardships, turning to food, drugs, alcohol, sex, relationships, work, and so much more in an attempt to promote happiness. All of us can struggle with these tendencies, but for some it can lead to the destruction of their lives, through obsessive and compulsive behaviour.
The Buddha’s teachings offer us a path of recovery. Whether you are struggling to stay off heroin or with an obsessive pattern of thinking, the same principles apply. The eight steps in this book take you away from the trouble caused by addictive tendencies, helping you untangle these drives, to discover a richer and more fulfilling way of living.

Our latest free eBook
Our latest free eBook is Sangharakshita’s A Moseley Miscellany: Prose and Verse 1997- 2012. In 1997 Sangharakshita, then in his early seventies, moved to Moseley in Birmingham. He lived there for sixteen years. This collection of prose and verse brings us right into the life and mind of the author during that time. The scope is broad, including poems on dementia, Merlin and the Twin Towers, a reverie on ‘principled vandalism’, a recollection of ‘a season in hell’ and a book review on Secular Buddhism. Sangharakshita also pays a personal tribute to Ayya Khema, and looks back at his family history. These are not ‘Buddhist teachings’ in the traditional sense but the output of someone whose whole life was lived in and for the Dharma. To read them is to be brought into contact with the living stream of Buddhism, and perhaps to come away changed.
