Will is 84, has Alzheimer's and little short-term memory. However, he is a charming, friendly and intelligent man with excellent social skills and full mobility. He is bored witless because he has trouble organising himself to do anything unless reminded.
He has a lot of friends and they drop in frequently, but he needs more regular supervision.
The job does not involve washing or dressing, heavy lifting, laundry, regular cleaning or administration.
You need to be energetic, positive and organised; regular, patient, reliable and kind.
The job does involve such things as finding his hearing aids, Freedom Pass and wallet; telling him he has food down his shirt and needs to change it; checking his diary for the day and making sure he goes to his engagements; making a simple lunch, sorting out his pocket money, encouraging him to do his own washing up or go for a walk with you; and depositing him at activities such as those of the University of the Third Age just down the road at Hampstead Town Hall. He can make his own way home.
Hours by negotiation; but, for example, 10am-2pm, Saturday and/or Sunday. Pay £8 per hour paid by online bank transfer following emailed invoice weekly or monthly. This is a self-employed post so you would take care of your own National Insurance, tax etc.
Please email Munisha with information about yourself, including any relevant experience, and names and email addresses of two members of the Order who you would be happy for Munisha to contact for an informal reference.
