Triratna’s Karuna Trust are offering short and long term opportunities to join the men’s fundraising community - known as the Appeal Vihara - based at the London Buddhist Centre.

In September 2010 Karuna started an ambitious project of establishing a year-long men’s door-knocking community in London. The team, led by Jayaraja, have formed a strong community, known as Viramandala, blending spiritual practice and fund-raising, and set within the vibrant mandala of the London Buddhist Centre.

Our community has been so successful, raising over £400,000 so far for Karuna’s work in India, that we have decided to extend it into a second year and are currently looking for men to join us for periods of six weeks, three months, or longer, from June 1st 2011 through to September 2012.

Door-knocking is both an effective way of making the world a better place, by raising money for Karuna’s crucial work with some of the most discriminated people in India, and a powerful means of self-awareness and personal transformation. Not only that: working closely with others in this way can forge friendships of a lifetime.

You don’t need any prior experience of fund-raising, just a willingness to learn and engage with the process. Karuna offers a comprehensive support package including retreat allowance, and is open to helping those who are training for ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order or wish to fund a visit to India. Why not give us a call and find out more?

So if you would like to be part of our pioneering community for six weeks, three months or longer then please give Jayaraja a call on 07588 831522 or Jayaraja108 [at] yahoo.co.uk (email him).

Karuna also runs appeals for women, as well as telephone fund-raising campaigns – for more details call the Karuna office on 020 7700 3434 for more information.
