Book Launch - The Journey and the Guide by Maitreyabhandu, 14th April

On Thursday, 14th April there will be an evening at the Glasgow Buddhist Centre launching Maitreyabhandu’s new book, The Journey and the Guide: A Practical Course in Enlightenment.  

The evening will start at 6:30 with baked potatos (please bring veggie toppings to share).

Then at 7:30 there will be a meditation followed by an interview of Maitreyabhandu by Dassini.

Join us for our next Sunday Sangha evening, this Sunday, 5:30 - 8:00.

The evening will be a celebration of friendship and sangha to send Liz Bassett off in style to start another phase of her life at Adhisthana!

It will be a practice evening hosted by Liz’s mitra study group, who wish to celebrate and share their experience of kalyana mitrata: beautiful and beneficial friendship. Poetry, readings, rejoicings and maybe a few surprises will be offered in a simple celtic-buddhist ritual led by Kuladharini.

Dianne and team will give a presentation on Cardboard furniture making. Dianne will demonstrate techniques used in a number of social enterprises in the UK and for making bespoke furniture for disabled children in Africa. Enjoy the practical, individual and therapeutic way of making beautiful household items using recycled materials.

Our next Sunday Sangha evening will take place on the 20th March,  5:30 - 9:00 at the GBC.

Maitrinaga and team will be giving a multimedia exploration of the Madhupindka Sutta - the Honeyball Sutta. We will evoke and imagine the Buddha when he gave this discourse on conflict: the culprit in this case is a habit called Papanca.

Soup and gulab will be provided but please bring some vegetarian food to accompany and share.

Join us this Sunday for Parinirvana Day – a celebration of death, impermanence and the last days of the Buddha’s life.

We will start at 10.30am with a meditation and reflection, with a reading from the Mahaparinibbana Sutta.

1pm - Lunch. Please bring vegetarian food to share.

2pm - We will be looking at how impermanence touches our lives.

3.30pm -  Dhammapada Puja. Please bring photographs of any loved ones who have died over the last year. We will be remembering friends and relatives in the puja.
