Triratna Thrive: How FutureDharma is responding to the Coronavirus

FutureDharma exists to enable an abundantly funded, effective and well-resourced Triratna community that can respond to a suffering world and provide a progressive pathway to liberation.

The established purpose of FutureDharma is to seed and support Triratna Sanghas around the world, funding Dharma projects which promote unity, depth and breadth internationally, especially new projects which are bold and innovative. However a new approach is needed for this unprecedented time of rapid change, uncertainty and challenge.

Community members donate to get food to Indian families in lockdown

By Caroline I P on Wed, 13 May, 2020 - 13:04

A few weeks ago, just after India had abruptly gone into lockdown, Aryajaya brought to the community the story of her friend Abhyanavita.

Abhayanavita did the Adhisthana International Course in 2018, and then returned to her home in Amravati, a city in Maharashtra. She runs a project there with a team of 4 Order Members and 6 Mitras running a hostel to enable vulnerable women and girls to step free of domestic and sexual violence and giving them the tools they need...

Ironic Points of Light (The Dharma Toolkit Daily, Episode 25)

By Centre Team on Sat, 9 May, 2020 - 00:21

Shimmering images, and no less shimmering experiences. Today’s episode begins a series on beauty, poetry, myth, art and symbol as a response to crisis.

Taking our cue from W.H. Auden’s poem, September 1st, 1939, and his recognition of the need to “love one another or die”, we ask how, in the midst of fear – even of death – we can exercise our agency as human beings.

Poetry leads the way in and out of the questioning. Joining Auden in the...

Listen to Thought for the Day: The Four Sights in Lockdown

07/05/2020

If the clouds clear tonight we’ll see the May full moon, traditionally called the Full Flower Moon to match the Spring blossoming. It will also bring to a close the Buddha Day Festival, when Buddhists around the world celebrate the birth and enlightenment of the Buddha. But the episode that resonates most strongly for me in the face of Covid-19 is the experience that starts...

Rooted in this very earth

By Dhivan Thomas Jones on Wed, 6 May, 2020 - 11:39

An unintended consequence of the viral pandemic is that, rather than walking to my office at the university, I walk for exercise each day in the local woods. And I am not alone: lots of us seem to be taking the unexpected opportunity to find pleasure in springtime woodland. As I’ve been walking in the woods, I’ve been thinking more about Buddhist environmental ethics (see also Mettā for Plants). It’s often thought that Buddhism is eco-friendly because of its...

By Centre Team on Sat, 2 May, 2020 - 06:00

As we come towards the end of our Being Divine Online Home Retreat it is our great pleasure today to share with you some beautiful closing reflections from Ratnavandana on the theme of the retreat: love itself.

Suryagupta and Subhuti in Conversation

By akasajoti on Thu, 30 Apr, 2020 - 23:02

On Sunday 19th, Suryagupta hosted a conversation with Subhuti on ‘Life, Death and Dying’ for the London Buddhist Centre, themes that are very much with us right now.

It was an insightful and meaningful conversation, and Subhuti invited us to work as positively as we can with the challenges that the Coronavirus pandemic brings - so we hope the reflections in the interview give you inspiration to take your practice deeper.
