Sheffield Buddhist Centre is the hub of a thriving, friendly community of practicing Buddhists, housed in a large listed building set in about 2 acres of garden. The Centre is run by members of the Triratna Buddhist Order, who teach and practice a non-sectarian style of Buddhism, suitable for people living in the contemporary Western world.
All of our meditation and Buddhism activities are free of charge. Our aim is to inspire a culture of generosity in the way we share Buddhist Teachings and therefore we run our centre largely from the donations we receive from classes and regular members.
We run regular classes for newcomers to Buddhism and meditation, as well as a packed programme of other classes, events, retreats, festivals and study seminars for those with more experience.
We also host yoga and tai-chi classes, for which there is a formal charge — our bright and airy “Great Hall”, with its underfloor heating, is ideal for bodywork as well as meditation.
