Ratnavyuha from New Zealand becomes a public preceptor

Posted by Saccanama on Wed, 27 Dec, 2017 - 11:00

Ratnavyuha introduces himself -

I currently live in Auckland, New Zealand where I’m involved with the Auckland Buddhist Centre, Sudarshanaloka Trust (which includes both Sudarshanaloka retreat centre and Lotus Realm Trading), and the Men’s ordination training process in New Zealand and Australia. My first contact with Triratna was in 1992 through Aryaloka retreat centre while a student at the...

Maitripala from Australia becomes a public preceptor

Posted by Saccanama on Sat, 23 Dec, 2017 - 12:18

Maitripala introduces herself -
I came across the Dharma in 1991 when I attended a weekend course led by Buddhadasa and Guhyavajra in Melbourne.
Both Buddhadasa and Dayamegha were my first main dharma teachers.
I was bringing up my three daughters in the lovely forest town of Emerald about an hour and half from Melbourne. I taught for many years at the local Primary School and was passionate...

Some words on being a College Member and a Public Preceptor

Dhammadinna

This year, after much consideration and consultation, I decided, for health reasons, that I needed to retire from the College.  I am in my early 70’s so it also felt timely from that point of view. I attended a few days of the recent November College meeting for my farewell, which involved a delicious meal followed by very...

Dear Dhammadinna,

You remain an inspiration regardless of what position you hold. Your influence is global and I for one am a stronger Order Member for having met you. May your wisdom grow ever deeper in this new phase of life.

With abounding metta,

Bodhidasa

Dear Dhammadina

You have been an inspiration to me ever since we sat on the wall in the courtyard of the LBC in 1990 during a break in the Bodhi Heart wk you were leading when you listened attentively to me as I told about leaving my marriage of twenty-five years. For the first time I felt I was heard and understood. A truly empathic way of being.

Much love Ratnachuda

Thank you for writing about your experience of Public Precepting which was lovely to read. You have been kind to me at a number of crucial points in my spiritual life - memorably at the LBC in 1988, at Twemlows Ave in 1992 or 93, in Birmingham in 1996, and again in the early 2000s… and many points in between. You have been a wonderful treasure for the Order and movement. I hope you enjoy your retirement - if that’s what it is..? Love, Samacitta

Subhuti: Retirement from the College

Posted by Saccanama on Fri, 1 Dec, 2017 - 18:02

Retirement from the College

As I have been approaching my 70th birthday in December this year, I have for some time been considering retiring from the College. After consulting with Bhante, Saddhaloka and his Deputies, the Adhisthana Kula members, my own Indian Kula, and other close friends, I have decided to take that step. This has therefore been my last College meeting as an active Public ...

Dear Subhuti,

Thank you for all the work you have done to help the spiritual growth of our Order. Thank you too for exemplifying the principle of moving back to allow other people to step into the responsibilities which you have been holding.

I’m looking forward to seeing what your next step turns out to be… especially if it means more teaching the Dhamma and kalyana mitrata!

With lots of love & appreciation

Thank you so much Subhuti for all that you have done for Triratna and the world. Your exhortation to bring about a Dharma revolution to also include the poor and marginalised in our society has been my compass for many years and you having said it made me feel I could be part of the Order and give of myself in my own unique and imperfect way. I wish you deep fulfilment, creativity and happiness. May all blessings be yours.

With deep thanks

Padmasuri welcomes her good friend Malini to the College

Posted by Saccanama on Fri, 1 Dec, 2017 - 18:02

It is our great good fortune that Malini has joined the College of public preceptors and just attended her first college meeting at Adhisthana.  Malini’s initial contact with Bhante was attending a meditation class led by him in the basement room of Sakura in Monmouth street, central London, in 1967.  Today she is the longest standing Dharmacharini in the world – quite an accolade!  Ordained  in 1969 at the...

Amogharatna shares some of his life in Berlin

Posted by Saccanama on Tue, 3 Oct, 2017 - 10:48

At the beginning of March this year I handed on my responsibilities as chair of Buddhistisches Tor Berlin, our Triratna centre in the capital of Germany, to the very capable and delightful Aryabandhu. Having oriented my life around the needs of the centre during my thirteen years as chair, I was pleasantly surprised by the ease with which I was able to ‘let go’ of my centre responsibilities. No doubt this process...
