Into Spring: Towards New Life in the Mind

Posted by bhpruitt on Fri, 9 Mar, 2018 - 15:08

Our new series: Sundays in March and April, 9.30am-12pm
Passing from one season to the next, we are reminded of the constancy of change. The freshening and new growth of springtime connects us with the positive, potentially joyous, aspects of this reality. From now through April, as we witness the reawakening of the natural world around us, we will explore seven qualities of an awakened mind:

  • mindfulness
  • self-reflection
  • energy
  • joy
  • tranquility
  • clear awareness
  • equanimity.

Where do we already experience them in our lives and how can we cultivate them...

Sangha members from Boston, Maine, New Hampshire and New York (well, New Jersey actually!) were among those gathered as well as family and friends of Sarah and Chong.

Thank you to Lona & Maryellen for bringing the flowers, and to Danakamala for creating the shrine. The colors all came together so beautifully! Thank you also to everyone...

Sunday, 9.30am-12pm
We’re deep into our new series for January and February: Embracing the Winter of Things. The depths of winter create a context for us just to be more fully with our experience, accepting endings and considering new beginnings, allowing new light and color to arise. This week, on Sunday February 18, we’ll start our last two-week topic of contemplation by exploring how we respond to unpleasantness in the conditions shaping our lives. And we will learn to sit with awareness that both ugliness and beauty...

Winter is upon us; life is complicated; and the mood of the times is dark. Twenty-five hundred years ago, the Buddha taught that mindfulness and kindness offer the surest refuge from human conditions such as these. But don’t take his word for it! Try it for yourself…

In this introductory course, Dh Narottama will teach the two most basic Buddhist meditation practices, Mindfulness of Breathing (Anapanasati) and the Cultivation of Loving Kindness (Metta Bhavana). These cold days are...

Sundays, January 7 - February 25, 9.30am-12pm

This Sunday we launch a new series for January and February: Embracing the Winter of Things. The depths of winter create a context for us to sit still and just be with the passage of the seasons, accepting endings and considering new beginnings.

Join us for meditation and the first in an eight-week series of exploration into how we can find beauty through paying attention to impermanence and the nature of things....
