This October our Sangha Nights will explore the value, practice and benefits of spritual friendship. In a well-loved teaching from the Buddhist tradition, Ananda, the Buddha’s long-time attendant, asks the Buddha if friendship is half of the spiritual life. The Buddha’s reply, that spiritual friendship is the whole of the spiritual life is something to come back to again and again. What does it mean to practice spiritual friendship? How do we go deeper in our communication with one another? Why do we feel our ethical behavior so much more directly in relation to those closest to us?
