Friends,
As many of you know, there was a 5-alarm fire in Portsmouth NH on Monday, which destroyed several buildings adjacent to the Portsmouth Buddhist Center.  Our center has extensive water and smoke damage, and the building we are in will be closed for some time for repairs. We were covered by insurance and will likely be able to open again at that location some time in the future. In the meantime, starting next week, we will begin meeting at a lovely space (pictured) in Portsmouth’s West End, donated by V-MAT, a non-profit that provides free martial arts training to veterans.  If you are moved to help us express our gratitude to V-MAT founder Scott Lombardo, you can do so by making a donation to V-MAT here.  If you wish to support residents and employees displaced by the fire, you can make a donation here.

Here are details of our program changes:
Our weekly open meditation, Wednesday evenings, is suspended until further notice.

Our Intro to Meditation course and Sunday gathering are cancelled for this week (April 13 and April 16).

We will reopen next week at V-MAT: Safeway Studios #23
135 McDonough St. Portsmouth

  • Thursday April 20, Intro to Meditation, continuing course, 7-9 PM
  • Sunday April 23, Community gathering, 10AM-12:30PM
  • Seacoast Young Sangha gathering rescheduled to April 30 - more information to follow soon

Many thanks to all who have offered support and good wishes.  May you all be well and happy.
